We are
delighted to be able to offer a course designed
specifically for those health care professionals who would
like to integrate yoga into their practice. This course
immerses the participant in a ten day intensive experience
that is both highly educational and deeply relaxing.
Upon completion of the course you will be able to integrate
yoga techniques into your practice and offer greater
benefit to your clients and patients. The program is ideal
for medical students, massage therapists, mental health
therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and physicians.
This all-inclusive program includes the ten day yoga
intensive course, travel to Mysore -- a delightful South
Indian city of palaces, parks, sandalwood, silk, and other
crafts -- and a wonderfully relaxing stay at South India's
original eco-lodge in the Mudemallai Wildlife Sanctuary.
The food alone is worth the stay and combined with the
scenic views, wildlife, and trekking -- well, let's say it
is the highlight of the trip.

Getting back to the yoga course:
We will be staying at the Prshanti Campus of the sVYASA
University, the first accredited yoga university in India.
The institution consists of an ashram, clinic facilities
which treat several hundred people every week, scientific
research facilities for the study of yoga techniques, and a
Masters and Doctoral program in yogic studies. sVYASA is
the premiere institution in the world for the scientific
study of traditional yoga techniques, with the goal of
integrating yoga into modern medical practice.
The course includes introduction to yoga techniques through
your own personal experience, including daily meditation,
breathing, advanced stress relief techniques, postures, and
cleansing methods. The type of yoga is designed to be
gentle on the body and does not require any previous
experience or extraordinary flexibility. This is a yoga
designed to be used with people with health issues of all
kinds, so it is very approachable.
Participants will accompany health care professionals on
daily rounds and observe patients using the special yoga
routines that have been found effective for such conditions
as mental health conditions, asthma, hypertension,
diabetes, and so on. The clinics are grouped into eight
sections based on type of health condition being treated.
You will have the opportunity to observe all eight clinics.
The course is rounded out with lectures and question and
answer sessions. The campus itself has many beautiful areas
for walks and relaxation and is even recognized as an
official bird sanctuary!
